Saint Peter’s basilica
Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican is one of the biggest building in the world. Built among 176 years on top of the previous basilica of Constantine, has a length of 718 ft and a width of 206 ft. Sangallo, Bramante, Raphael, Michelangelo, Maderno and Bernini, among others, are the architects who contributed to deliver to the posterity this architectural marvel. The grandiose interior has finishes in marble and golden stucco, the papal altar, above Saint Peter’s tomb is surmounted by a majestic bronze canopy 95 ft high and further above is the spectacular Dome; the tallest in the world with its 443 ft. The façade, which is 377 ft wide and 151 ft high, faces the huge elliptical square framed by 282 columns.
